Villa Puesta Del Sol, our Sunset House
Intimate, vine-draped Villa Puesta del Sol reflects the lovely color of sunset and provides a great place to watch it from.
You’ll find our cozy two-bedroom villa surrounded by tropical gardens and tucked close to the estuary, only a few coconut tosses from the ocean and swimming pool.
Sunsets from the Rooftop Terrace or Walking on the Beach
As the name suggests, our Villa Puesta del Sol is a great place to see sunsets that are different most every evening with a practically infinite array of colors. Of course you might also decide to have a walk down the soft, warm sand beach and watch the last rays of the sun dropping into the blue waters of the Pacific. Who knows, you may even be the one to see the infamous “green flash”.
Lower Floor Bedrooms, Baths, and Terrace
On the lower floor Villa Puesta Del Sol offers two very comfortable, refreshing bedrooms with king-sized beds where you can relax to the sounds of heron calls and the wingbeats of magnificent frigatebirds. Our home has a capacity of up to six guests, an ample view of the blue Pacific Ocean, and plenty of amenities to go along with this place of such incredible beauty.
The two bedroom suites include this sunshine-colored one and the peaceful sunset-colored one seen below. They are decorated with handcrafted furniture and roomy king-sized beds. There’s a terrace adjacent which leads out to the gardens, coconut palm grove, swimming pool, and beach.
Your bedrooms also each have their own colorful and traditional “talavera” tiled bathroom, in the “Puebla” and “Dolores Hidalgo” styles, as well as plenty of closet space. And yes, they come with super-quiet air conditioning for those of you who visit in the warmer months to participate in sea turtle conservation activities.
Features of Our Home
From the entryway gently curving stairs lead up to a main floor with its artsy niche and banks of windows. The upper floor boasts a deck and palapa. All rooms are colorfully painted and decorated with traditional Mexican handicrafts from artisan communities.
Main Floor Open Living Areas and Terrace
Villa Puesta del Sol’s main floor has an open plan with a flow between living, dining, and kitchen areas that encourages a social atmosphere.
Your tiled kitchen and breakfast bar include dishwasher, tropical wood cabinets and pantry, and all other expected amenities.
A hidden half-bath and utility room (with washer and dryer) are there for tactical support. There’s a terrace for the living and dining areas as well as a spacious upper deck with your “palapa” that inspires cocktail sipping at dusk.
The Rooftop for Sunset, Grilling, Reading, and of Course Hammocking
A pillared palm-thatched palapa canopy protects a secret dining table and hammock from the sun. Pots filled with local flora decorate the tiled floor.

While the ocean waves beckon from one side of our home, steps away from the terrace doors of the bedrooms you can enjoy a swim in the fresh water pool at Playa Las Tortugas, with it’s palm-roofed palapa and comfortable sunning chairs, or just relax with a cool drink.
