Casa Luna, our “Moon House”
Lovely Casa Luna, our “Moon House” at Playa Las Tortugas, offers a marvelous tropical Mexican beach experience.
It’s a terrific villa for sipping margaritas and barbecuing on the “palapa” palm-roofed terrace, or just contemplating the views of the blue Pacific ocean or the full moon rising over our natural estuary.
Our spacious two-bedroom home is decorated in traditional tropical colors, while equipped with air conditioning and ceiling fans to offer a cool respite.
Panoramic Views of the Coconut Palm Grove and Pacific Ocean
As with other homes in our hidden beach community, from the open main floor living area terraces you’ll be privileged with panoramic views of the ocean, palm grove, and garden areas.
We love coming down to spend time at our home away from home, and you will too. It’s such a spectacular place to visit and spend some quiet time away from the 75 mile-an-hour routine of our everyday lives.
The Interior
So many places to relax—you’ll need to try them all. Our Casa Luna comes with private first-floor bedrooms, a breezy open-plan main floor perfect for entertaining, and a rooftop deck with areas for sunning as well as an authentic “palapa” for napping, having a meal, or experiencing a calming massage in the shade.
Main Floor
The main floor is comprised of living, dining, and kitchen areas open to each other—- designed with comfort in mind. Individual shaded terraces, with that “big blue” Pacific ocean view, connect to the living and dining areas providing a nice space for a relaxed breakfast or afternoon nap, and of course are a great place to see the often colorful, always warm sunsets.
The indoor dining area easily seats six people, and has an adjacent covered terrace that’s great for an early morning cup of coffee while you listen to the sounds of the “chachalaca” birds in the mangroves of the estuary.
Casa Luna’s well-equipped kitchen includes a dishwasher, tiled island, pantry, and even a half bath. Prep areas and serving bar are open to the dining room, creating a social center worthy of occasions from afternoon cocktails to holiday dinners. Two intimate decks further invite lingering as you await tasting duties.
Bedrooms and Baths
Each of the two large bedroom suites, in tranquil green and soothing aqua, are decorated with rustic furniture, from the artisan community of “Tonalá. Spacious en suite bathrooms are colorfully tiled in the “Puebla” and “Dolores Hidalgo” Talavera traditions. King-sized beds, desks, and access from each bedroom to the beckoning gardens, pool, and ocean help to make your visit to Playa Las Tortugas enjoyable.
The Rooftop
Cool tile floors, nap-worthy lounge chairs, a shady woven-palm palapa, a wet bar, and a barbecue: Who says you ever have to come down from the rooftop comforts of Casa Luna?
Enjoy Swimming and Sunning
At our Casa Luna you can enjoy sunning and playing in the waves, have a swim in the fresh water pool, or just sit and relax at the pool with a cool drink under the palm-roofed palapa.

Activities (on site or nearby)
Amongst other activities, don’t forget about sea turtles at Playa Las Tortugas !!
Wave-surfing in the kayaks or on boogie boards; Canoeing in the calm waters of the estuary; Surfing or Fishing in front of the property; Whale Watching; Enjoying a boat ride for Coastal Sightseeing; Ocean Fishing trips; Sea Turtle Conservation activities (during season); Horseback Riding down several miles of the beach; Birdwatching in our 1100 acres of tidal mangrove estuary. The El Cora Waterfall is found just outside the small mountain village of El Cora, where you’ll discover several beautiful waterfalls. The highest is over 100 feet, and has a wonderful pool at the bottom of it. The closest golf courses are at Tepíc (about 1 hour 15 minutes) where you can play all day for about $40 USD while your family enjoys the swimming pools and tennis courts of this local country club, and the “Flamingo” (about 1 hour 40 minutes) towards Puerto Vallarta. There are a number of courses around Vallarta including a Jack Nicklaus course at the Punta Mita Four Seasons.
Rental Information
We have a special “couples” rate for a maximum of 2 persons except during holidays.
The villa is normally rented by the week, though stays of 2 days or more will be considered.
**No smoking in the home please. **Important - Please note that smoking inside of our home will result in the loss of your damage deposit.
No pets are allowed.
